Quick verdict
Silentnight Vilana Miracoil Mattress looks like a value-focused shortlist for shoppers who actively want an extra-firm feel rather than a soft or cushioned one. The tracked prices run from £184 to £328 across Single, Small Double, Double and King Size, so it sits in a much lower price band than many comparable mattresses. The main question is not whether it is cheap enough, but whether the firmness suits your comfort preference and sleep position.

What the product page says
Mattress Online describes this Silentnight model as using a Miracoil spring support system with soft white fibre fillings and an extra-firm firmness rating. The listing also says it is handcrafted in the UK, and it includes a 100-night comfort trial plus a 5-year guarantee. Those are useful buying clues, but they are retailer descriptions rather than independent proof of comfort or support.
What the wider review picture suggests
Public review comments lean in two directions: some buyers praise the value and the firmer feel, while others say it feels too hard, concrete-like or less comfortable than they expected. That split matters because the strongest praise and the strongest criticism both center on firmness, not on size or price. Benchmark data also puts this model below the comparable-product median price of £632, and it has 4 tracked variants, which is about average for the group.
Buyer trade-offs to weigh up
The biggest trade-off is firmness versus comfort certainty. If you want a mattress that is likely to feel firm to extra firm, the Vilana is aligned with that brief; if you are unsure, the 100-night trial helps, but you should still confirm the return or exchange steps before you order. Also check the final checkout total, because delivery charges, removal options and size upgrades can change the value story quickly.
Price and value benchmark
The current tracked prices are Single at £184, Small Double at £244, Double at £244 and King Size at £328. That is a clear step-up by size, with the Double sitting at the same price as the Small Double in the tracked set. Against the comparable-product median of £632, this is priced as a budget-friendly option, so the value question is mainly about whether the construction and firmness feel right for you.
How it compares with nearby alternatives
If you want a different feel or construction, compare the Vilana with Silentnight Bonnell Mattress, Silentnight Miracoil Cushion Top Mattress and Silentnight Miracoil Memory Cushion Top Mattress. The Bonnell option is cheaper, starting from £168, while the cushion-top Miracoil models move up to £239-£455 and may suit shoppers wanting a less rigid feel. That makes the Vilana best viewed as the firmer, lower-priced end of this Silentnight group.
How much weight to give the rating
The displayed 4.5 out of 5 rating is a positive sign, but it should not be overread because the review count signal is not clearly strong enough to support a firm conclusion. Public snippets are also selective, so they can overrepresent happy or unhappy shoppers depending on what is surfaced. Use the rating as a cue to investigate further, not as proof that the mattress will suit your own comfort preference.
Who it suits
This mattress is most likely to suit firm-feel shoppers, especially back or stomach sleepers who usually prefer a sturdier surface. It may also appeal to value-focused buyers who want a recognisable Silentnight model with a 100-night trial and a 5-year guarantee. If you are comparing on practical fit, the four tracked sizes make it easy to choose a straightforward bedroom setup without paying for a more complex spec.
Who should look elsewhere
If you prefer a softer or more plush feel, the Silentnight Vilana Miracoil Mattress is probably not the right starting point, especially at the £184 Single price where the extra-firm label is already clear. Shoppers who are uncertain about very firm comfort should compare it with the Silentnight Miracoil Cushion Top Mattress or Silentnight Miracoil Memory Cushion Top Mattress, since those nearby Silentnight alternatives are aimed at a less rigid feel. Before ordering, verify bed-frame compatibility, sheet depth and whether any topper you use will still fit comfortably.
Comfort and support
On everyday use, the Silentnight Vilana Miracoil Mattress looks built for a firmer, more supportive feel rather than a deep sink-in surface. Mattress Online lists a Miracoil spring support system, soft white fibre fillings and an extra-firm firmness rating, with the mattress shown in Single through King Size and priced from £184 to £328. That combination suggests a straightforward, price-conscious build that may suit back or stomach sleepers better than shoppers who want a softer top layer or a plusher comfort profile.
Value check
On value, the Vilana looks strong if your priority is a lower entry price, a familiar brand and a firmer feel. The 100-night comfort trial and 5-year guarantee add reassurance, but they do not replace checking the final checkout price and delivery terms. If the mattress fits your comfort preference, the size range from Single to King Size makes it easy to buy a practical, not extravagant, option.

Questions about this mattress
Is Silentnight Vilana Miracoil Mattress likely to suit my sleep position?
The extra-firm feel makes it a better fit for shoppers who usually like a sturdier surface, especially back or stomach sleepers. If you prefer a softer mattress, or you are unsure about firm comfort, compare it with nearby Silentnight alternatives before buying.
What do the size and price options look like?
The tracked sizes are Single at £184, Small Double at £244, Double at £244 and King Size at £328. That makes the price jump easy to see, and it also shows that the Double is priced the same as the Small Double in the current tracked range.
What does the 100-night comfort trial mean in practice?
It gives you a window to judge the mattress at home after delivery, which is useful when firmness is the main uncertainty. Before ordering, check the retailer’s return or exchange steps, because those details matter more than the trial headline if you decide the feel is not right.
Can I rely on the 4.5 rating alone?
Not by itself. The visible rating is encouraging, but the review count signal is not clearly strong enough to treat it as a full verdict, and the comments are mixed on firmness, so the rating should be read alongside the construction and trial details.
Who should compare something else instead?
Shoppers who want a softer or more cushioned mattress, or who are unsure about an extra-firm feel, should probably look at nearby Silentnight options with a different construction. It is also worth checking bed-frame, sheet and topper compatibility before committing to any size.
